Punta Cana has quickly become one of the most desirable destinations in the Caribbean for vacation homeowners—and for good reason. Its turquoise waters, lush palms, and easy connection to Miami make it a natural extension for anyone who loves coastal living with a touch of sophistication.
So when a close friend asked me to help furnish their three-bedroom beach home—complete with a pool, gazebo, and outdoor kitchen—I knew it was the perfect opportunity to blend Miami modern style with the soul of the Dominican Republic.
This project is more than just a design story—it’s a glimpse into what’s possible for Punta Cana interior design, where luxury meets ease and nature sets the tone for everything. And for me personally—the daughter of Dominicans and an island resident for 15 years—it’s a dream come true to be able to create homes in a place I’ve always considered home.
Tropical Modernism: Where Indoors and Outdoors Become One

The vision for this home centers on Tropical Modernism—an approach that celebrates open spaces, natural textures, and a seamless flow between indoors and out. Every space, from the airy living room to the breezy gazebo, was designed to feel deeply connected to the landscape.
Think teak and woven rattan, linen and coral stone, all in soft, sun-washed tones that complement the sea and sky. The aesthetic blends mid-century modern simplicity with organic materials and island warmth.
The result is a home that feels sophisticated yet effortless—a place where modern design meets the laid-back rhythm of Caribbean life.
The Challenge: Turning a Design Vision into Reality from Afar

Designing a home abroad can feel overwhelming. How do you coordinate furnishings, shipping, and installation when you can’t be there in person? That was my client’s biggest concern—and the challenge I was eager to solve.
With the right local partners, everything becomes possible. From architects who provide precise construction details, to trusted freight forwarders, receivers, and installers, we’ve built a network that handles it all: transport, insurance, customs, and installation.
By consolidating deliveries and managing every phase—including the fluffing of the last pillow—we make it possible for homeowners to select their furnishings in the U.S. and have them installed perfectly in Punta Cana without ever leaving their city.
Of course, I spend time on the ground to ensure that every detail is executed flawlessly and that any issues are resolved immediately. It’s a complete turnkey design experience—one that makes furnishing a vacation home not only possible but genuinely enjoyable.
Celebrating Local Craftsmanship and Art

Another reason I love being on site is to source from the incredible local artisans of the Dominican Republic. From handcrafted lighting and woven décor to ceramics and paintings, these creators bring a richness and authenticity that no catalog can match.
By pairing these locally made pieces with high-end trade-only furnishings from Miami, the final design feels authentic, layered, and connected to place. It also supports local talent—something I believe every international design project should do.
Making It Seamless for Remote Homeowners

Many of my clients are busy professionals or families who can’t be present for every step of the process. That’s why I rely on detailed renderings, frequent updates, and meticulous logistics planning to ensure everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
The goal? For clients to arrive at their vacation home, open the door, and find everything exactly as imagined—the art hung, the outdoor cushions fluffed, and the kitchen ready for a sunset dinner by the pool.
That’s what I call Caribbean vacation home design made simple.
Looking Ahead: Expanding Design Horizons to the Caribbean
This project marks an exciting new chapter for Brickell Interiors. The Dominican Republic is filled with opportunity—beautiful properties, a thriving creative community, and homeowners who value comfort, authenticity, and connection.
For me, it’s a natural evolution: bringing our Miami design expertise to the Caribbean in a way that’s fresh, elevated, and uniquely personal.
For anyone dreaming of a vacation home in Punta Cana, the process doesn’t have to be complicated. With the right design guidance and a trusted logistical team, your island retreat can be just a plane ride away—ready and waiting for you to unwind.
